This three-week intensive is designed for dedicated ballet students and young professionals. It focuses on refining classical technique, developing pas de deux skills and enhancing performance ability.
 

What makes our intensive special is the individual approach, where each participant receives personal attention and coaching tailored to their specific needs and abilities, including rehearsing individual repertoire.
 

The program blends the excellence of five legendary ballet traditions: 
The Paris Opera Ballet School, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Vaganova Academy, and the Kyiv and Tbilisi State Ballet Schools. Dancers benefit from the guidance of internationally renowned Ballet Masters who have performed on the world’s most prestigious stages and worked with iconic choreographers such as Balanchine, Robbins, Pina Bausch, William Forsythe, Mats Ek, Twyla Tharp, Jiri Kylian, and Sir William McMillan, among others.

 

Iana Salenko, Principal Guest Dancer with Staatsballett Berlin will join us as a special guest on 21 and 22 July to teach an exclusive MasterClass. This class must be booked separately and can be taken for one or two days.
 

Admission includes the full masterclass program, with optional contemporary classes and the possibility to extend your experience by joining the day camp or the full-board supervised camp for dancers traveling without parents.

Nina Ananiashvili

Prima Ballerina & Director of State Ballet of Georgia Nina Ananiashvili began her ballet training at the Tbilisi Choreographic School before continuing her studies at the Moscow Choreographic School under Natalia Zolotova. She rose to international fame as a Prima Ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre from 1981 to 2004, where she performed the full classical repertoire under the mentorship of Raisa Struchkova. Her debut tour with the Bolshoi in Germany was met with a legendary 30-minute standing ovation for her performance as Odette-Odile in Swan Lake. She is the only ballerina to have received all four of the world’s most prestigious ballet competition awards, including Gold and Grand Prix medals from Varna, Moscow, and Jackson. In 1988, she became the first Soviet dancer invited to perform with New York City Ballet, dancing Balanchine’s Symphony in C, Raymonda Variations, and Apollo. Nina also performed with the Royal Ballet (London), Royal Danish Theatre, Mariinsky Theatre, American Ballet Theatre, and numerous leading companies across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Since 2004, Nina has served as Artistic Director of the State Ballet of Georgia and the Vakhtang Chabukiani State Choreographic School, where she has overseen over 60 new productions, including works by Balanchine, Ashton, Bournonville, Kylián, and others. She has collaborated with renowned choreographers such as Alexei Ratmansky, Yuri Possokhov, and Stanton Welch, and has staged classical productions internationally, including in China, Portugal, Germany, and Georgia. Her artistic excellence has earned her over 20 national and international honors, including the People’s Artist of Georgia and Russia, the Laurence Olivier Award, the Order of the Rising Sun (Japan), and the UN Goodwill Ambassador title. In 2019, she was named Honorary President of Europa Nostra Georgia, recognizing her ongoing commitment to cultural and artistic leadership.

Stéphane Phavorin

Stéphane Phavorin

Former First Dancer of The Paris Opera International Guest Ballet Master Stéphane Phavorin received his dance training at the Paris Opera Ballet School and studied classical piano at the Nice Conservatory and in Rueil- Malmaison. Former Premier Danseur of the prestigious Paris Opéra Ballet, Stéphane brings over 25 years of stage experience, having performed leading roles in classical masterpieces by Rudolf Nureyev and Georges Balanchine, and contemporary works by Pina Bausch, William Forsythe, Mats Ek, Twyla Tharp, Jiri Kilian, and Wayne McGregor. His distinguished career has earned him international recognition, including Paris Opéra’s AROP prize and multiple medals at global competitions. Beyond performance, he holds both a Diplôme d’État (2002) and a Certificat d’Aptitude de professor de danse in pedagogy (2013) from the French State and is a sought-after Ballet Master and guest teacher at top companies such as the Paris Opéra Ballet, London’s Royal Ballet, and the Colón Theatre Ballet in Buenos Aires, HET National Ballet, Scala de Milan.

Denis Matvienko

Denis Matvienko

Split Ballet Director Co-Founder & Artistic Director of BalletStage Denis Matvienko is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of BalletStage and one of Ukraine’s most celebrated ballet artists. He began his training at the Kyiv State Choreographic School and started his professional career at the Ukrainian National Ballet, quickly rising to leading roles. He later joined the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg as a soloist, performed as a principal dancer at the Mikhailovsky Theatre, and returned to the Mariinsky as one of its top stars. Denis has also performed as a guest artist with many of the world’s top companies, including the Bolshoi Theatre, La Scala, Paris Opera, and New National Theatre of Japan. Known for his powerful technique and artistic range, Denis has danced principal roles in classical, neoclassical, and contemporary works. His talent has earned him many prestigious awards at international competitions and festivals, recognizing both his performances and contributions to ballet. In addition to performing, Denis has led major ballet companies as an artistic director, taught classical dance at the Vaganova Academy, and helped discover and mentor young dancers through projects like “Ballet of the Future.” Today, Denis is also the Artistic Director of the Ballet Company at the Croatian National Theatre Split (HNK Split). Through BalletStage and his international work, he continues to inspire and guide the next generation of ballet talent.

Iana Salenko

Iana Salenko (Special Guest)

Principal Guest Dancer Staatsballet Berlin Iana Salenko is an internationally celebrated ballerina and Principal Guest Dancer with Staatsballett Berlin. A graduate of the prestigious Kyiv State Choreographic School, she began her professional career at the Ukrainian National Opera in Kyiv, where she was quickly promoted to principal dancer. In 2007, she joined Berlin State Ballet, where she rose to become one of the company’s most admired stars. Known for her technical brilliance, emotional depth, and elegant stage presence, Iana has performed lead roles in the classical repertoire including Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Giselle, Don Quixote, and La Bayadère. Her portrayals of Odette/Odile and Aurora have drawn international acclaim for their artistic sensitivity and precision. Beyond her classical achievements, Iana has demonstrated exceptional versatility in contemporary works and has collaborated with some of the world’s most renowned choreographers and dancers. Her artistic range and dedication have made her one of the most respected ballerinas of her generation. Alongside her performance career, Iana is passionate about mentoring the next generation of dancers. She regularly leads international workshops and masterclasses, sharing her experience and insights from a career at the highest levels of ballet. As part of the BalletStage Summer Intensive Masterclass in Ljubljana, Iana Salenko will offer exclusive training sessions, guiding young dancers toward greater artistry, technique, and confidence on stage.

Anastasia Matvienko

Anastasia Matvienko

Principal Guest Dancer & Co-Founder of BalletStage Anastasia Matvienko is a Principal Guest Dancer and Co-Founder of BalletStage, combining over 20 years of international stage experience with a deep commitment to ballet education and creative development. A graduate of the Kyiv State Choreographic School, she has received numerous awards at international ballet competitions, including gold and silver medals for her outstanding performances. Anastasia has performed leading roles in iconic classical ballets such as Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, and Giselle, as well as contemporary works by choreographers including George Balanchine and Alexei Ratmansky. Her career has taken her to major theaters across Europe, the United States, and Japan, where she has been recognized for her powerful technique and expressive artistry. Beyond the stage, Anastasia is a driving force behind BalletStage, where she co-develops creative concepts, stages productions, and mentors young dancers. In 2022, she launched the BalletStage platform to support Ukrainian ballet artists and foster artistic collaboration in challenging times. A dedicated teacher and coach, Anastasia is also an ambassador for Gaynor Minden and La Prima Ballet School, using her platform to inspire the next generation and share her passion for ballet with audiences around the world.

Irina Prokofieva

Irina Prokofieva

International Guest Ballet Master Irina Prokofieva is a distinguished ballet artist, educator, and choreographer with a career spanning over two decades. A 2001 graduate of the Vaganova Ballet Academy, she was immediately accepted into the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, where she danced for 18 years. Her repertoire included solo roles in iconic ballets by Petipa, Ivanov, Balanchine, Grigorovich, and Forsythe, showcasing both her classical strength and stylistic versatility. Driven by a passion for teaching, Irina earned her Master’s Degree in Ballet Pedagogy from the Vaganova Academy in 2012. Since then, she has taught masterclasses and seminars around the world, including in Seoul, Zürich, Hong Kong, and major cities across China, where she was honored as Emeritus Professor of the Jilin Institute of Art following her acclaimed 2010 masterclass. From 2019 to 2024, Irina served as Ballet Master at the Hungarian State Opera, staging Paquita Suite and collaborating with leading choreographers across a broad range of classical and contemporary works. In 2024, she expanded her teaching to Astana Opera in Kazakhstan and joined the World Ballet Company (USA). In 2025, she assisted Denis Matvienko in staging Scheherazade for HNK Split in Croatia. Irina is also the author of a book honoring the teaching legacy of Sergei Vikharev, further solidifying her dedication to preserving and sharing ballet’s rich tradition. With a deep commitment to excellence in both performance and pedagogy, she continues to inspire the next generation of dancers around the world.

Valeryia Vapniarskaya

Valeryia Vapniarskaya

Ballet Master & Choreographer Valeryia Vapniarskaya is an accomplished ballet master, teacher, and choreographer, with a distinguished career spanning performance, education, and creative work in classical ballet. She spent over a decade as a Principal Dancer with the Bolshoi Theatre Ballet Company in Minsk, where she performed major roles such as Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, Myrtha in Giselle, and Gulnara in Le Corsaire. Valeryia currently teaches classical ballet and repertoire at the AUB Ukrainian Ballet Academy in Milan, following her work at the Russian Ballet College in Genoa. She has collaborated with renowned choreographers and principal dancers from La Scala, and has worked with influential figures such as Yuri Grigorovich and Jiří Kylián. As a dedicated educator, she has mentored students who have gone on to become soloists at leading companies including the Bolshoi Theatre and the National Theatre of Warsaw. Her choreographic works include Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and Chopiniana, reflecting both her classical expertise and creative vision. Valeryia holds a degree in Ballet Pedagogy and a Diploma in Professional Dance and Teaching from the National Dance Academy of Belarus. Fluent in Russian, Italian, and English, she is known for her supportive, structured, and inspiring teaching style, empowering dancers to grow with confidence and artistry.

Ganna Muromtseva

Ganna Muromtseva

Soloist Dancer Hungarian National Ballet Ganna Muromtseva is an accomplished soloist ballerina and international performer, known for her elegant technique and dynamic stage presence. She began her career at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ukraine, where she rose to the rank of Prima Ballerina, performing on prominent stages across China, Japan, Germany, Italy, and beyond. In 2022, Ganna joined the Hungarian National Ballet, adding new roles to her repertoire, including Odette-Odile and Big Swans in Swan Lake, Queen of the Dryads in Don Quixote, Princess Mary and Snowflake Solo in The Nutcracker, and *5 Tangos. Her wide-ranging experience spans both classical and contemporary works, reflecting her artistic versatility. Her repertoire includes major roles in The Sleeping Beauty, Le Corsaire, and Don Quixote, among others. She was featured in the Ukrainian Ballet Gala at Sadler’s Wells in London, performing Ludovic Ondiviela’s System A/I. Ganna has been featured in Dance Magazine (Japan), Dance Europe (London), and Clara Magazine (Japan), and has received numerous awards, including the Crystal Shoe (2004) and Dance Without Borders. Alongside her stage career, Ganna is a dedicated teacher, offering masterclasses for both children and adults in Ukraine and Turkey. Her teaching combines the strength of Ukrainian ballet tradition with European refinement, helping students build a strong foundation and expressive artistry.

Dasha Poliakova

Summer Camp Manager Dasha grew up in camps herself — first as a camper, then a counselor, and eventually a camp director. With 24 years of hands-on experience, she knows exactly how to create unforgettable, safe, and joyful adventures for kids. For over 12 years, she has organized and led international camps without parents in countries like Latvia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, and Russia. Her approach combines thoughtful structure with the spirit of exploration and play. Currently, she coordinates the extracurricular program at La Sallay Academy, an international boarding school in France, where she curates engaging activities that nurture curiosity, independence, and connection. Her background includes four years as a youth program leader at a major center for children’s creativity. Dasha holds master's degrees in both Biophysics and Tourism & Communication, and she speaks Russian, English, and German fluently. More than just a job, camp life is part of who she is — a place where every child feels seen, supported, and free to grow.

Terms and Conditions

  • To apply to the Ballet Stage Summer Intensive, participants must complete an Online Application Form which is available on the event's website.

  • Participants who are professional, semi-professional, or have completed at least one year of full-time training for a career in dance and are 10 years or older by the start of the masterclass are eligible to apply.

  • The deadline for applications is 1st July 2025. As places are limited, we recommended to apply as soon as possible!

  • Participant must inform of any health problems and submit an accompanying letter via email to info@balletstage.com

  • Before the event participants or guardians must complete an allergy form which will be shared by our team.

  • During submission of the application, a deposit or full admission must be paid to guarantee the admission.

  • If paying a deposit, the remaining balance must be paid by 1 May 2025.

  • Payments are transacted in AED currency - Can be made from any currency.

  • Bank transfers are possible, please contact us for details.

  • If paying by bank transfer, any bank fees are paid by the payee.

  • The organizers reserve the right to retain all or part of the course fees if the applicant withdraws from the course.

  • Participants get access to a WhatsApp/Telegram chat-group where admin updates are shared.

  • The final schedule for the masterclass will be posted on the notice board of the studios on the first day of the masterclasses.

  • Participants are expected to bring normal practice wear, and female candidates should bring pointe shoes with them.

  • Participants are responsible for bringing and preparing their own make-up and costumes for the Gala performance on the last day.

  • The organizers reserve the right to change the selection of the participants repertoire for the Gala concert if its deemed too difficult vs their abilities.

  • The organizers are not responsible for any damage or injury caused to any person attending the course or for the loss of any property.

  • The organizers reserve the right to change the teachers or artists in the event of illness or any other unavoidable circumstances.

  • The organizers are not providing accommodation or transportation unless booked separately and confirmed.

  • Participants are advised not to leave the KGBL event area during the scheduled times of the program.

  • The organizers are understood not to be liable for any injuries or liabilities of any sorts as part of participating in this program.

  • Participants or their guardians assume full responsibility for any damages caused to the event venue by the participant and agree to cover costs.

  • The organizers are not responsible for any loss of personal items as a result of mismanaging or losing such items, irespective of the situation.

  • We recommend that participants have personal insurance in case of emergencies.

  • Participants should not attend if they have pre-existing injuries.

  • If due to injury a participant can no longer join the event then subject to an official medical certificate provided, the participant can receive a refund of 80% of the general 1, 2 or 3 week masterclass fee paid. Additional services booked such as camp, full camp, accommodation, contemporary or Iana Salenko classes will be non-refundable even during cases of personal injury before or during the event.

  • Organizers reserve the right to sort groups not only by age, but also considering the participants' professional training and level of skills, which will be assessed during first day of the week (Including moving participants into younger or older groups).   • All participant grant permission to the production company, and related audition sponsors, organizers, management, third party affiliates and producers to use any personal photographs/video content without expecting payment or compensation for the purpose of public relations, marketing, TV, and advertising or other...
